Roberto Papi began studying violin at the age of eight with Fabrizio Ammetto in Spoleto, Italy. After completing his high school education, he moved to the United States to continue his studies in viola. He earned his Bachelor of Music cum Laude from Vanderbilt University studying with Kathryn Plummer, and his Master of Music at Rice University with James Dunham.
Roberto has performed in festivals both in Italy and the USA, including the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi, Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, Texas Music Festival and the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. An active chamber musician, he has performed with James Dunham, Roberto Diaz, Norman Fischer, Christopher Rex, Jeffrey Khaner and others. Before joining the Orquestra Filarmonica de Minas Gerais, Roberto was a fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami.
