Lucas Filho

French Horns

Born in Belo Horizonte, Lucas began his musical training with his father in 1999. He graduated from Minas Gerais State University (UEMG) in 2011, in Professor Sarah Ramez’s class. In UEMG’s Symphony, Lucas was Principal Horn from 2007 to 2010. He served as Principal Horn with Palácio das Artes Youth Orchestra from 2005 to 2007, while studying with Professor Ailton Ramez at the music school of the institution. He has also attended classes and festivals with Bostjan Lipovsek, José Costa, Luiz Garcia, Nigel Downing, Samuel Hanzen, Stefan Dohr and Will Sanders.

 

Lucas has been a member of the brass quintet Quintetando since 2007, developing an intense chamber music activity in Minas Gerais. He has served as guest musician with the Ouro Branco Chamber Orchestra, Espírito Santo Philharmonic and Minas Gerais Symphony. With Neojibá, a youth orchestra from the state of Bahia, Lucas performed at the opening of the Young Euro Classic festival at the KonzertHall in Berlin, at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, featuring the pianist Maria João Pires, and at the Royal Festival Hall in London, as part of pianist Lang Lang tour.
