Second Violins

Martha was born in Belo Horizonte into a family of musicians – her father is a flutist and her mother, a violinist. In her childhood, she was Edson Queiroz and Max Teppich’s student. At ten years old, she was first place in the National Strings Contest in Juiz de Fora, being at that time the youngest candidate to receive the award. In 1999, she won first place in the same competition.

 

In 2004, she graduated in Violin from State University of Minas Gerais and attended Violin classes at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in Professor Michel Bessler’s class.

 

Martha has also won several other competitions for young musicians, getting the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the symphony orchestras of Minas Gerais, Bahia and of the Federal University of Minas Gerais.

 

She has also participated in various music festivals, being the only Brazilian selected to the 2003 and 2004 editions of the Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival in Germany.
