Frank Haemmer

Second Violins   |   Principal

Frank was born in Demmin, Germany, and began his violin studies at age seven at Johann Sebastian Bach State Music School, in Leipzig. In 1994, he entered University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar, in Professor Deutsch’s class, also taking lessons from Norbert Brainin. He graduated in 1999, obtaining maximum grade achievable in his Diplomkonzert. At the same school, he completed his postgraduate studies in Violin Performance.

 

Throughout his formation period, he has worked in various orchestras in Germany, such as Musikschul Rundfunk Orchester, Jenaer Philharmonie and Staatskapelle Weimar, with which he was a soloist in 1996. He has also performed as a soloist with Amazonas Philharmonic. He worked with the São Paulo State Orchestra (Osesp) in 2000 and in the following year, he joined the Amazonas Philharmonic as Principal of the Second Violins. In 2002, he was invited to become concertmaster of Amazonas Chamber Orchestra.

 

Frank founded the string quartet Taron-Weimar in 1995, performing as first violinist. With this group, he has performed in Germany, Belgium, Finland, Sweden and the United States. He has also participated in international chamber music courses, taking lessons from Petersen-Streichquartett, Ulrich Beetz from the Abegg Trio and Dewich from the Bartok-Quartett Budapest.
