Eduardo Swerts

Cellos

Eduardo was born in Belo Horizonte, where he graduated in Music from the Minas Gerais State University (UEMG). He followed his studies in Germany, obtaining a master’s degree, the Artist Diploma and completing the Chamber Music course at the Musikhochschule Münster and at the Robert Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf. His academic advisors were Abel Moraes, Matias de Oliveira Pinto and Franziska Batzdorf. He has also taken part in masterclasses with Antonio Meneses, Antonio Meneses, Maria Kliegel, Peter Bruns and Márcio Carneiro, among others.

 

He has been a member of orchestras in Brazil, Germany, the Festival delle Nazioni in Italy and, for two seasons, he was Principal Cello of the Orchestra of the Americas. He has performed as a soloist in Portugal, in the Algarve Festival, Germany, Solistenforum Münster, and at the premiere of Dos Pampa Sur, Rufo Herrera, with the Ouro Preto Chamber Orchestra. Eduardo has also won the Münster Chamber Music Competition with the pianist Risa Adachi, performing in Germany, Greece and Portugal, in addition to the recording and live broadcasting of that concert by the German radio station WDR3.

 

Between 2010 and 2012, Eduardo taught at the Staatliche Musikschule des Emslandes and at the Musikschule Steinfurt. He has also been assistant professor of Matias de Oliveira Pinto at the Academy of Musikhochschule Münster and a fellow of KAAD (Catholic Academic Exchange Service) and of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation – Live Music Now. Mr Swerts has a degree in Social Communication from the Minas Gerais Federal University (UFMG).
